The beauty of Spring

"Arise, make haste, my love, my dove, my beautiful one, and come. For the
winter is now past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers have appeared in our
land." Song of Songs 2:10-12.

The beauty of Spring really shows God's beauty and His grace. There is nothing like driving down the road, with the windows rolled down, looking out at an endless blue sky. Proof that God is the Creator of this beautiful Earth. I spent the day planting flowers yesterday, and taking a walk around the park. I admired the wonderful colors that God painted this Earth with. The beautiful green of the grass, the pink flowering trees, and even the yellow dandelion. All together, the scenery made my heart sing. It filled me with joy, thankfulness, and love for my God. It seems that sometimes during winter, our souls seem to darken, but as soon as spring arrives, we are brought back to the light. We forget that God is evident in Winter also. How he created every single snowflake to be unique from all of the others. If it is this beautiful outside of heaven, here on Earth, think about how beautiful it is going to be inside of heaven.

Hope that everyone can get out and enjoy the weather and the scenery.

Feels like Spring is finally here...

Wow, I can't believe it is March already. It seems like this year is flying by already. I now have less than 3 weeks until I am on a cruise to Mexico. I can't wait! I'm so ready for laying out in the warm sun, drinking a cold beer, and hanging out with 3 of my favorite people. :)
I have decided that 26 is going to be the best year yet. Ah, 26...getting old. I have the cruise this month, and then I am going to the Kentucky Derby in May. I have been in Kentucky for almost 12 years now, and still never been to the Derby. I can't wait to watch the horses, while wearing a big hat, and drinking a mint julep.
God has been so good to be this year so far. I can't wait to see what all he has in store for me. I love my life. I couldn't ask for anything better.
"I will see the goodness of the Lord, in the land of the living." -Psalms 27:13

Go CATS!!!

Had a great weekend. My Mom and I went to the UK vs. GA game. Big game not only for the CATS, but for us too since we are from GA. It was a GREAT game. Way too close for comfort, but the CATS won, so that's all that matters. Now we are 16-0. Woohoo!
Today on WLEX18 news at noon, the President of The Forum was on to talk about the new group (The Republican Womens Forum). She did a great job. I'm excited about our launch party on Thurs night from 6-8 at the Bodley Bullock House. If you are interested in the group, or just want some more information, please come out to the party.
I now have a new obsession. I am addicted to Wii Fit. I can play for hours at a time. I have lost a couple pounds just by playing the games. Its so much fun. Not only am I trying to beat everyone else's scores, but now I am trying to beat my own top scores. haha. I'm such a nerd!
Well, I am going to have a pretty busy week, so this is all that I have time for right now. Hopefully I will be able to post something again later this week.

Breaking Free

I am excited about so many things today. I feel like God has so much in store for me this year. I found a church that I really like, thanks to my friend Anna. I am looking forward to what I am going to learn there and the people I am going to meet. Its such a reassurance when you find something that fills that hole in your heart. You know you are missing something in your life, and you keep trying to fill the hole with things, but they don't seem to fit. God is the only one that can fill the void in your life. Its so amazing when you realize this. I am also doing the Beth Moore bible study Breaking Free with a small group or women. We did the series Jesus,My One and Only last year. Breaking Free is a study on Isaiah 61. It is about freedom, and about identifying the spiritual strongholds in your life. We met last night for the first time, and watched the introduction video. I can already tell that this study is going to be a powerful one. Yes, I know that Beth Moore studies are a lot of homework, but I think this study is going to be well worth the time we put into it.

I am also involved in the Republican Womens Forum, and we are having our official launch party next week. Its going to be a big event. Lots of politicians are going to be present, and our President of the Forum, Ashley is going to be on WLEX18 on Monday at 12:30 PM. Check out our website: http://republicanwomensforum.com/

Another exciting thing is that I will be going to the UK vs. GA basketball game this Saturday. Woohoo!!! Two of my favorite teams. I know this seems small to some people, but Kentucky basketball is a HUGE deal here in Lexington. Plus, I am still a Georgia girl, so this should be a fun game to watch. Go CATS!

Could it be any colder?

Getting out of bed when it is this cold out is almost impossible for me. I don't know how people can live further north than Kentucky. I could never do it.
This weather is just making me more and more excited about the two vacations that I am trying to take this year. Hopefully a trip to the Keys with my Mom, Aunt, and Cousin. We've started taking annual girls trips to places warm. Last year we went to Savannah and New Orleans. My second trip this year is still in the works. Three of my best friends and I are trying to plan a trip during "Spring Break". Haven't been on an actual Spring Break in a while since I am not in school anymore. But hopefully it will be a relaxing trip and we won't have to deal with the crazy party crowds. I know, I am getting old. I have turned 26 and no longer like to party. What is wrong with me? We are trying to decide on a destination that is going to be WARM! So, seeing as how today is going to be about 20 degrees outside, I am staying warm by my heater at work, and exploring vacation deals on Expedia. :)

A New Year...

I am new to blogging, so I am not sure where this is all going to go.

As we are welcoming in the beginning of a new year, a new decade, I am even more determined to make this one last as long as possible. What a better way to start off 2010 than UK beating Louisville! Go CATS! :) The year 2009 went by so fast, and it seems like I didn't really get to enjoy it and appreciate it as much as I should have. This year, seeing as how it is a new beginning (really just a new decade) I have decided to make it really count. Not just make it count to me, but make it count to others. I am the worst at sticking to New Years Resolutions, because once February comes around I have already forgotten them. This year, I am thinking about making a life resolution, not just a new years. I have found that being single can be a very positive thing. You have more time to give to yourself and to others. I am going to try to get more involved in the community and use the helping hands that God gave me. Not only am I planning on helping others, but I think that by contributing more to the community, it will in turn help me. It will hopefully help me to be more grateful, compassionate, and understanding.
As Acts 20:35 says "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving"
